ACT Grant Funding Opportunities
If your goal is only to reuse existing materials without authoring or adapting any original content, you can apply for assistance with adoption. This is not supported by grant funding. Completing the form for adoption indicates a request to utilize the Center for eLearning and the FAU Libraries to assist you in identifying appropriate free-to-student resources for your course.
To receive ACT assistance to adopt eText, you will utilize open access or Library resources to replace textbook materials. You may work with an instructional designer to facilitate this process.
- Platinum Adoptions: Platinum Adoptions offer FAU faculty members the opportunity to be part of a growing community of scholars working to expand quality cost-free curricular resources. Courses submitted for Platinum Adoption must provide ALL educational materials and resources at zero cost to students. This is achieved through the review and use of open educational resources extant in the wider academic community.
- Gold Adoptions: Gold Adoption offers FAU faculty the opportunity to be part of a growing community of scholars working to expand quality cost-free curricular resources. Courses submitted for Gold Adoption must result in reduced peripheral costs to students. The
adoption of course materials must result in ALL educational materials and resources costing $60.00 or less.
Courses that meet the Platinum and Gold Adoptions criteria also automatically meet the requirements for the corresponding seals of affordability. Seals of affordability will be visible to all students during the course selection/ registration process. Courses with this seal will also have a notation in the FAU course catalog.
Any adoptions for existing materials must follow Fair Use as described in the TEACH Act and, where appropriate, include proper attribution and citations.
