The FAU ACT committee will fund and support curriculum affordability projects through a competitive grant process that will award selected Adaptation proposals up to $1000 per application. The FAU ACT committee will also award a Platinum or Gold Adaptation Seal of Affordability for courses which meet the designated FAU affordability threshold.
Platinum Adaptation Seal
The Platinum Adaptation Seal of Affordability offers FAU faculty members, or teams of faculty, the opportunity to contribute to the academic community through the partial creation, remix, and revision of an existing openly licensed resource resulting in a customized textbook (40% of text remixed or revised by grantee[s]).
Gold Adaptation Seal
The Gold Adaptation Seal of Affordability offers FAU faculty members, or teams of faculty, the opportunity to contribute to the academic community through (1) the revision of an existing openly licensed resource to result in a customized course textbook largely authored by the instructor (between of 20-30% of textbook authored by grantee[s]) or (2) the construction of an extensive course test bank (assessment items) and instructional resources (minimum of 20% of instructional resources authored by grantee[s]) to result in a course which offers ALL educational materials and resources at a cost less than or equal to $60.00.
The awarded seal of affordability will serve as an identifier during the course registration process. Courses with this seal will have notation in the FAU course catalog.
