Request a Library Appointment for OER Consultation
The Florida Atlantic University Library partnered with the Center for eLearning in forming Textbook Affordability Committee (TAC) that explores avenues for reducing the cost of textbooks to students. Through this partnership, the Affordable Curriculum Today (ACT) grant initiative was developed as one of the ways to achieve this objective. The ACT grant initiative incentivizes faculty to support the development of open educational resources (OERs) that are made available to students at significantly reduced to no costs. As part of this support process, the FAU library offers OER development support through one-on-one consultations with faculty. Through these consultations, library staff assist faculty with research, copyright and publication, and peer review.
ACT grants are awarded across three categories of funding and library support: Authorship, Adaptation and Adoption. Each grant supports the development of course resources and materials, including an eText that is housed in the FAU online repositories. All grant recipients are required to complete consultations with the FAU library OER support specialists as part of the eText development process. Appointments with the FAU Library OER specialists are coordinated through the Center for eLearning’s research and development team as part of the project consultation process. Library appointment must be made a month in advance. To request a library appointment for OER consultation, please complete the form below.
