Dr. Julie Golden Botti

Dr. Julie Golden Botti serves as Executive Director for Online and Continuing Education in the Office of the Provost. In this newly-established role, Dr. Golden Botti oversees the university’s efforts to create and enhance online courses and programs, lifelong learning offerings, and continuing education programs. She oversees the Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes in Jupiter, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale. Additionally, she supports professional development opportunities to promote high-quality academic programs.

Dr. Golden Botti has worked in these areas at FAU since 2012, when she first came to the university as an instructional designer. She was subsequently promoted to Assistant Director and Associate Director of eLearning. Dr. Golden Botti holds a Doctorate of Education, Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and a Master of Arts in Career and Technical Education from the University of Central Florida.

Willie H. Freeman III

Willie Freeman is the Director of eLearning. He has 20 years of instructional technology experience in Higher Education. He supervises a team of instructional designers, oversees faculty development and support efforts, and works directly with the Assistant Provost to implement FAU’s eLearning initiatives.

Willie believes faculty and student support are essential to FAU’s mission of excellence and innovation in teaching. Although based on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, he frequents the Davie and Jupiter campuses to consult with faculty and staff. He conducts round tables with distance learning faculty on the Jupiter, Davie, Harbor Branch and Boca Raton campuses enabling them to ask questions, express needs, and discuss with one another the challenges and experiences related to distance learning.

Jill Rosen

Jill Rosen joined the eLearning team in January, 2013 as the Budget Manager. She holds a Master Degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware.

Jill coordinates all of the financial transactions for the Center for eLearning including close collaboration with each College to assure smooth and timely transfers of faculty funding.

Nicole Alford

Nicole Alford joined the Center for eLearning in October 2017 as an Instructional Designer. Nicole holds degrees from Florida State University including a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Business and Child Development and her Masters in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies with graduate certificates in Preparing Future Professionals, Online Instructional Development, and Human Performance Technology. Nicole is pursuing her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at Florida Atlantic University with concentrations in gamification, instructional design and global engagement. Nicole has experience working in higher education, presenting at state and national conferences, and developing online courses and modules. Nicole enjoys to workout at the FAU gym and participate in group fitness classes as well as spend time with family.

Tanya Beniquez

Tanya Beniquez serves as a Digital Media Coordinator for the Center for eLearning at FAU. Tanya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies with a concentration in Film and Video from FAU, as well as minors in Communications studies and in Italian language. Prior to her work at FAU, she gained professional experience in broadcast television, from Pre-Production as an Assistant Producer to Post-Production as a Deliverables Coordinator for a national news network. Tanya loves to be outdoors, riding her bike and rollerblading. She also loves hosting parties, pondering, analyzing films/TV shows, traveling and spending quality time with loved ones. Tanya speaks English, Spanish and some Italian.

Amarae` Blyden-Richards

Amarae` Blyden-Richards serves as Project Coordinator at the Center for eLearning. Amarae` has extensive experience with academic advising, student service management, recruitment, orientation and transfer services. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of the Virgin Islands as well as a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

Deny Chang is the Instructional Technology Specialist at the Center for eLearning where he supports and manages various projects, events and productions. Deny holds a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies from FAU. Prior to returning to Florida Atlantic, Deny worked in the corporate and broadcast video production industry. He brings a decade of extensive and varied multimedia and production experience.

Dr. Joseph Dargue

Dr. Joseph Dargue is an Instructional Designer at Florida Atlantic University’s Center for eLearning. His responsibilities include working with faculty to build quality online courses, coordinating professional development opportunities, and contributing to the development of accessible educational resources.

Joseph holds a Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature from the University of Cincinnati (2015); an M.A.Ed. in Instructional Technology from the University of Akron (2018), an M.A. in Literatures of Modernity from Royal Holloway, University of London (2008); a B.A. (Hons) in English Literature from Lancaster University (2006); and a Graduate Certificate in eLearning from the University of Akron (2018).

Dr. Lisa Desruisseaux

Lisa joined FAU’s Center for eLearning in January 2018 and works in instructional design and online professional development. Throughout her 29 years in K-12 and higher education, she has worked as a classroom teacher, traditional and online faculty, administrator and professional consultant. She holds current certifications as a K-12 educator, principal, curriculum director, Quality Matters Peer Reviewer and Critical Friends Coach.

Lisa holds a Doctorate of Education, Educational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University; a Masters of Education in Educational Supervision and Administration from the University of New Hampshire; and a Masters of Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Notre Dame College, Manchester, NH. Her passion for teaching and learning has helped her to develop an area of expertise in communities of practice, which makes her work with FAU’s Center for eLearning a natural fit.

Emily Frank joined FAU’s Center for eLearning in January 2019 as an Instructional Designer. Emily holds a Master of Teaching with Technology (MAT) degree from Marlboro College (2012), a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from Eckerd College (2000), and an Instructional Design Graduate Certificate from University of Wisconsin at Stout (2017).

Emily loves technology and enjoys her work helping faculty improve their online courses. Outside of work, she enjoys practicing yoga, singing in a choir, and spending time outside with her husband and twin daughters.

Lady Marcela holds a BBA in Management Information Systems from FAU. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Information Technology and Management.

Mary Rotundo

Mary Rotundo joined FAU’s Center for eLearning in November 2015 as an Instructional Designer, Educational/Training Programs Coordinator. Mary holds a Master of Arts degree in Online Education from Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD) Colombia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Languages from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela.

Before joining FAU, Mary was an English as a Second Language instructor for more than 15 years. She co-wrote the Online English as a Second Language Program for UNAD Colombia. Mary has also been learning manager and instructional designer for several private firms, where she coordinated the design of learning solutions as well as the deployment of communication and follow-up strategies.

Mary is a born educator. She believes that being an instructional designer is being an educator all over again.

Silvana Schwan

Silvana Schwan joined the Center for E-Learning at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) as Instructional Designer in August 2015. Silvana holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Communications with a minor in Journalism, has a Web Design and Interactive Media certification from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and a Master’s Science Degree in Instructional, Curriculum and Technology from Nova Southeastern University. Silvana had worked for The Discovery Channel for 12 years responsible for Brazil, Spain, and Portugal media-program management markets, leaving the Cable Broadcast Television industry to pursue a second career in Education. Previously, Silvana contributed as an Instructional Designer at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), and Keiser University (KU).

Silvana’s passions are in Education, Media, Technology and Volunteering Work. Silvana believes in the power of knowledge and education, and takes professional gratification in designing courses to attending all learners-learning styles.

Dr. Judy Somers

Dr. Judy Somers, Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Florida Atlantic University.

Judy’s educational/research interests are in the areas of brain-based learning, metacognition, visual literacy, emotional intelligence, and the learning process. She likes to encourage others to “Think Outside the Box.”

Judy teaches as an adjunct for the College of Education at FAU, having taught several Masters and Doctoral level courses as well as Introduction to the Teaching Profession; an undergraduate survey course for preservice teachers. Judy has presented at several Florida and National conferences.

Outside the University setting, Judy has an interest in Nature Photography. She has had some articles and photographs published in Nature Photographer magazine. She also enjoys the culinary arts and was a local caterer for several years. Judy likes traveling, working in the garden and various crafting hobbies. As well as anything DISNEY!

Kathy Taliau

Kathleen (Kathy) Taliau joined the Center for eLearning in January 2016 as an Instructional Designer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Gordon College and a Master of Science in Education: Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology from Nova Southeastern University.

Kathy’s passion for eLearning stems from her experience as a high school ESOL teacher. She believes that eLearning provides vast educational opportunities for students of every age and circumstance, and she is excited to be on the cutting edge of this field.

Jessica Weiss

Jessica Weiss initially joined the Center for eLearning in 2018 as an intern earning her M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from FAU. During her internship, Jess fell head-over-heels with all things eLearning. In early 2019, she joined the team full-time as eLearning Support personnel. In this support role, Jessica was able to gain thorough hands-on experience with many of the processes that go into creating quality online courses. In late 2019, she started her position as a Learning Strategist. In her free time, Jess enjoys exploring new places, trying new foods, and laughing.
