The Accounting major provides students with a solid educational foundation for entry into professional careers in accounting-related areas of business and government. The program prepares students to pursue advanced education in accounting and related fields.

Florida Atlantic University’s AACSB-accredited College of Business offers the 3rd and 4th year of upper-division (3/4000 numbered) business courses in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree program as fully online for the Accounting major (OACG). The Accounting major is designed to begin with ACG 3131 (Intermediate Accounting Theory 1) and ACG3341 (Cost Accounting). Students desiring to register for ACG 3131 and ACG 3341 must first pass the School of Accounting Competency Exam.

The Master of Accounting and Master of Taxation programs help fulfill the educational requirements to sit for the CPA examination in the state of Florida and many of the states that have adopted the AICPA’s 150 credit-hour requirement. Students are encouraged to check with the state board of accountancy in the state in which they plan to practice regarding specific course requirements.

All lower-division courses and requirements must be completed prior to entering the OBBA program. Lower division requirements include: at least 60 semester credit hours, foreign-language proficiency, a 2.5 FAU-GPA, the seven Pre-business Foundation courses, the FAU Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) requirement, and either an AA-degree from a Florida public institution or completion of the FAU Intellectual Foundation Program (IFP) courses.
The Online BBA degree program has the same academic core curriculum and rigor as the Traditional BBA program at FAU and is taught by the same faculty. To earn the degree, students must complete all of the degree requirements of the University described in the Degree Requirements section of the University Catalog.
The program for the online BBA in Accounting consists of 51 – 60 credits of 3000/4000-level course work. Applicants may start in any term.
