The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Hospitality and Tourism Management program prepares students for management positions in multiple segments of the world’s largest service industry. The program prides itself on educating hard-working customer-oriented students. We understand that students want to not only learn about Hospitality and Tourism Management, but also how they can apply classroom knowledge and experience to improve their professional careers and their lives. In our Hospitality and Tourism Management Program, students learn creative thinking, analytical, data analysis, and extensive written and oral communication skills.

With a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree as the foundation of this major, students are prepared for the business competencies and skills required in the hospitality industry of the 21st Century. By having a BBA degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, students are well prepared to be future managerial and executive leaders in the hospitality industry with less of a “vocational” or “craft” training; instead, there is a stronger focus on financial statements, industry quantitative indicators (i.e., STAR Report), accounting principles, human resources, revenue management, and strategic planning. FAU’s business school is fully accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The members of the AACSB are globally recognized as the world’s top-rated business schools (see ). FAU offers the only BBA in hospitality and tourism in the entire state university system (SUS) of Florida.

All lower-division courses and requirements must be completed prior to entering the Online BBA program. Lower division requirements include: at least 60 semester credit hours, foreign-language proficiency, a 2.5 FAU-GPA, the seven Pre-business Foundation courses with a grade of C or higher in each course, the FAU Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) requirement, and either an AA-degree from a Florida public institution or completion of the FAU Intellectual Foundation Program (IFP) courses.

The Online BBA degree program has the same academic core curriculum and rigor as the Traditional BBA program at FAU and is taught by the same faculty. To earn the degree, students must complete all of the degree requirements of the University described in the Degree Requirements section of the University Catalog.

The program for the Online BBA in Hospitality Management consists of 51 – 60 credits of 3000/4000-level course work. Applicants may start in any term.

A “C” or better grade is required in all Business and Hospitality/Tourism coursework being applied towards the degree.

All Hospitality and Tourism Management majors are required to demonstrate completion of a minimum of 1000 hours of work experience in a hospitality-related position prior to graduation from FAU. Students earn these hours while simultaneously pursuing their BBA degree from FAU. Employers send us their job postings on a regular basis which is shared with the students. Our students work in varied and diverse positions including entry-level, supervisory, and managerial roles. Most every hospitality business segment is represented in the vibrant South Florida tourism community. Students may bring to the program sufficient work experience to count toward this requirement.
