This track integrates the caring philosophy into organizational management. Its core and cognate courses provide study central to advanced nursing management and financial practice; the nursing concentration courses offer content and practice in nursing and health care administration and finance, relevant to primary, secondary and/or tertiary settings in rapidly changing times.
The Administrative and Financial Leadership in Nursing and Health Care track curriculum can be taken completely online and the needs of students in other geographic areas can be accommodated for the practicum. The track requires a minimum of 37-39 credit hours for completion. Full and part time program of study options are available. The curriculum contains a minimum of 180-270 hours of required practical related to administrative and financial management in health care organization(s). Students will find a preceptor who will mentor them throughout this portion of the curriculum. Decisions about preceptors will be made with the advisement.
Massachusetts has initiated the process to join NC-SARA and are expected to be approved by the end of this year. Massachusetts state authorization restricts activities in internships and supervised academic field experiences. Therefore, any distance learning student in the College of Nursing who will be residing in Massachusetts while participating in their academic program should contact the college before enrolling to assure they are compliant with state authorization rules.
